Customising a step message

Every step has its own message — the email or SMS your customer receives when that step is completed. You can customise each one to say exactly what you want.

Opening the message editor

  1. Open a job
  2. Click Edit Message under the step

Message fields

  • Subject — email subject line only; defaults to "Update: [Your step title]"
  • Body — the main message content
  • Include default greeting in message — when checked, prepends "Hello [Customer Name]," to the message. Your default greeting can be edited in Settings → Business Settings.
  • Approval required for this step — adds approval buttons to the customer's tracker step
  • Allow customer feedback on this step — lets the customer send a written response

Footer

Your business footer is always appended to every message automatically — it includes your business name and contact details. You can edit your footer in Settings → Business Settings.

You can preview exactly what your customer will see before sending. Switch between the Email Preview and SMS Preview tabs in the message editor to check the full formatted output.
