Customer notification toggle
Every step has a notification toggle that controls whether your customer receives an email or SMS when that step is updated. The tracker always stays up to date - the toggle only controls whether you actively ping the customer.
Notifications enabled
When the toggle is on, the customer receives an email and/or SMS the moment you update that step. Use this for steps where you want to proactively keep the customer in the loop.
Notifications disabled
When the toggle is off, the step still updates on the customer's live tracker — they just don't get a message about it. If they check in themselves, they'll see the progress. You're moving the job forward without interrupting them.
How to use it
The toggle gives you full control over your communication rhythm. Some examples:
- Notify on key steps only — turn notifications on for the first step ("We've started your job") and the last ("All done — here's your invoice"), and leave the middle steps off. The customer can check in any time and see progress.
- Notify on every step — keep all toggles on for jobs where the customer needs to be kept closely informed at every stage.
- Notify on specific steps — turn on notifications only for steps that require customer action, like approvals or payments, and leave the rest off.
Hidden steps
If a step is hidden from the customer, the notification toggle is disabled automatically and shows as Notifications unavailable. Since hidden steps are invisible to the customer, there's nothing to notify them about.
There's no right or wrong approach - it depends on your business and your customers. The toggle is there so you're always in control of when you reach out, rather than every step automatically firing off a message.
